Saya dan jonos telah meeting dengan pihak DBP & Malaysia Book Of records..everything look positif. We start with latest peKOMIK events news.

Soft Launch SOLARIS.

PeKOMIK will have a promo booth. Free Caricature session ( pencil & paper provided). Ahli/ajk peKOMIK sila hubungi saya bg mereka yg nak buat kerja amal coz tempat dah di sponsor.

- PeKOMIK juga d kehendaki membuat ‘small comic/cartoon workshop’ for kids. Perlukan Ajk/ahli yg volunteer buat workshop ini.

1. Indie Youth Festival. 5- 7 July, 2008. sat & sun.

The organizer will try to get more than 2 tables & 4 chair for us.

What PeKOMIK will do:

- PeKOMIK booth. ( sesapa ada produk utk di jual d pekomik booth, contact me).

- Continuation of PeKOMIK art banner. Sila konfem sapa yg hadir utk lukis komik art banner ni..nak rekod nama…piker storyline sesiap..abour ‘reading’.

- waitng fro our confirmation of completion date. On that day baru boleh official launch dan dapat sijil from MBOR.

- Propose date on late October di Balai senilukis Negara. Jonos will confirm wth BSLN. On date,place n VIP fr the launch.

- Need to take some photos..to pass to MBOR..utk dapatkan endorsement letter.

- Maybe can design t-shirt on peKOMIK MBOR “longest comic art banner”..for us to wear on the official completion/launch.

- Alang2 nak buat launch…ada small event kat BSLN kut.

1. meeting with DBP. 3 perkara utama yg perlu di siapkan utk follow up meetng:

- semua ahli hendaklah kasi softcopy portfolio anda…utk buat job komik ngan DBP. Ini penting bagi mengumpul dana PeKOMIK. Siapa nk terlibat buat team work utk komik DBP please contact me (azhar).

- Prepare proposal & bajet utk buat event komik dengan DBP. I’m open to any suggestion.

- Prepare guideline on writing/drawing doing comic for DBP. Ini kira PeKOMIK officially jadi consultant utk DBP. Juga guide tatatertib melukis komik dengan DBP.

- Juga PeKOMIK akan saling bekerjasama utk promote produk masing2 dlm event/road tour mereka.

- PeKOMIK akan prepare satu proposal utk buat pertandingan komik DBP.

Tahun ini nampaknya masing-masing sudah mula ada kesedaran untuk melangkah lebih jauh. Antaranya, peluang yang disediakan oleh unit Komik Pts, saya fikir harus di manfaat sebaiknya oleh semua pelukis, terutama malah, anggota-anggota PeKomik.

Saya mendapati beberapa detik sebelum tahun 2007 menutup tirai, sudah ada beberapa nama yang establish didalam dunia komik di temuramah oleh akhbar. Yang paling saya ingat adalah saudara Ujang sementara di sebelah temuramah saudara Ujang adalah Saudari Sarah. Satu perkembangan yang sihat dalam bidang pelukisan dan komik.

Penghasilan Komik Komikoo juga harus diberi pujian walaupun pada keluaran pertama masih terdapat luahan emosi yang saya fikir tidak seharusnya ada pada komik yang mentakrif diri sebagai “komik yang bukan main-main”.

Ok, kita mengerti,

Harapan saya pada keluaran-keluaran selepasnya,kelompok profesional ini akan lebih fokus dalam menghasilkan kerja-kerja mereka.

Seingat saya pada tahun ini, jawatankuasa pekomik ada berura-ura untuk menganjurkan seminar mengenai hakcipta karya terutamanya yang berkaitan dengan dunia komik. Saya fikir ini peluang yang baik untuk para pelukis dan pengkarya mencedok perkara-perkara yang berkaitan. Mempelajari dan memahami selok belok undang-undang agar apa yang pernah terjadi pada saudara Ujang tidak terjadi kepada saudara/saudari pelukis semua.

Saya fikir sampai sini sahaja saya tinta saya berbicara. Sebagai golongan yang bekerja sepenuhnya dengan hasil kreativiti, hasil kerja seharusnya mendahului patah-patah bicara.

BILLY TAN

Upon hearing of their son’s plans to become an artist, Billy Tan’s parents had some extremely dubious career advice.“You would never be able to survive as an artist,” Tan, now drawing Uncanny X-Men, recalls them scolding. “Only when you die, that’s when you make money.”

The teenage Tan, eager to be both successful and breathing, obeyed their wishes to depart Malaysia and attend business school at the University of Kentucky. But downtime was spent taking art classes and compiling a portfolio, which he sent off during one of Top Cow’s talent searches in 1994. “I sent in a sample and they give me some comments through letters,” Tan says. “They let me try out with trading cards. I sent that in and they liked it, so they flew me in to San Diego. They were cool enough to keep me.”

A die-hard fan of Image, Tan’s days were spent inking in the company of luminaries like J. Scott Campbell, Travis Charest and his idol Marc Silvestri. “When I first picked up [Silvestri’s] Cyberforce, I had no idea comics could have such an artistic factor. His stuff was mind-blowing to me.”

The Image gigs—Tomb Raider, Codename: Strykeforce—were in short supply; Tan once spent an entire year painting a Tomb Raider cover, which wasn’t doing his bank account any favors. A friend facilitated a Marvel meet in 2004, which resulted in work on X-23 and Marvel Knights Spider Man. In 2006, Tan was granted the Holy Grail of illustration: a job on Uncanny X-Men with legendary scribe Chris Claremont. When the publisher called with the offer, Claremont was silently listening on the line. “I was sweating,” Tan laughs. “I was going, ‘That was Claremont on the phone. I think.’”

Uncanny editor Nick Lowe plucked Tan from a stack of possible recruits. “He’s one of the few artists who really makes characters look cool,” Lowe raves. “His characters are badass, plain and simple. They look like they can, and will, kick your ass. Some of the pages he’s finished have literally made my socks fly off.”

Tan’s dynamic style shines in fight sequences. “I think that’s my influence from the Hong Kong comics,” he says of the knuckle-ups. “Hong Kong comic fight scenes, the choreography is amazing. Very dynamic and aggressive in how they do it. It’s in your face.”

The 37-year-old artist’s alchemy has had fans returning to the X-books in droves, a fact that gives him a case of the warm fuzzies. “It’s really an honor when fans come up and say, ‘You made me come back to the book.’ That’s amazing. I try my best.”

Ink and Color a comic strip with a wacom

In this video I demonstrate how i use the Wacom tablet with adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to complete one of my Chad the Fat Kid comic strips. I also discuss how the wacom helps me over come my disability which has crippled my hands. I tried to make this as educational as possible with real tips and skills.
